Abdominoplasty (or tummy tuck) is a surgical procedure that removes excess skin and fat from the abdomen in addition to tightening the muscles of the abdominal wall.
In most cases, abdominoplasty surgery is performed when a woman is finished with child bearing. The stomach muscles often stretch during pregnancy and remain lax. This may result in a "pot belly" appearance, in spite of endless crunches and sit-ups. Sewing the muscles back to their original location can dramatically flatten the abdominal profile.
How is Tummy Tuck Surgery performed?
To remove the skin and fat, a long incision, normally below the underwear line, is made. Evidence of the incision will fade with time, but a scar will remain.
It is important to limit activity for 10 days to aid healing. Most abdominoplasty patients can return to work in 10 -14 days, however heavy lifting should be avoided for 3 months.
The price of a tummy tuck in our Portland/Vancouver area office ranges on average from $6800-$7600. A "mommy makeover" is a combination of procedures, usually including breast augmentation and tummy tuck. The typical price range for a full mommy makeover is from $12,500 to $13,500.
Note:
If your primary problem is limited to excess fat, you may be a candidate for liposuction instead.
