Thigh Lift

A thigh lift is a body contouring procedure used to improve the appearance of your inner and outer thighs. The procedure is commonly performed after weight loss, and used to treat excess fat deposits, loose skin, and stretch marks.

As a plastic surgeon who is experienced with body contouring, Dr. Workman frequently performs thigh lifts on his patients in the Portland area and southwest Washington. A thigh lift improves the appearance of your thighs. If you avoid swimsuits and shorts because of the appearance of your thighs, you may wish to consider a thigh lift.

Dr. Workman may recommend a thigh lift to treat:

fat deposits on the inner and outer thigh,

Most patients undergo a thigh lift after they have lost a significant amount of weight. Thigh lifts remove localized excess fat from the thigh. A thigh lift plastic surgery procedure is not a means to lose weight. Before undergoing a thigh lift procedure, you should be at a stable, healthy weight. The ideal candidate is a man or woman in good health who wants to remove stubborn fat deposits and tighten loose skin.

Your Thigh Lift Procedure in Vancouver

A thigh lift is a tissue removal procedure. This means that the surgery lifts sagging skin on the thighs, and removes the excess tissue. If you wish only to remove fat from your thighs, a thigh lift is not the best procedure for you. Liposuction can remove fat from the inner and outer thighs without also treating excess skin.

Before choosing a thigh lift, you should know that a thigh lift procedure will leave scars. There will be scars in the area that Dr. Workman makes an incision and removes stretched skin. Most patients see significant fading of the scar within one year after a thigh lift. Many patients prefer these scars (which should fade over time) to excess, sagging skin.

Your thigh lift procedure will be performed under general anesthesia. Dr. Workman begins by marking on your skin where he will make incisions. To correct the inner thigh, Dr. Workman will make an incision along the groin toward the knee. To correct skin on the outer thigh, he will make an incision that starts at the groin and continues along the hip.

Dr. Workman will remove excess tissue and fat from the thighs using liposuction. Then, Dr. Workman will lift the skin of the thighs. When the skin is taut, he will remove any excess skin from the inner and outer thighs. He will then close the incisions.

Thigh Lift Results And Recovery

After your thigh lift procedure, you will go home to rest and recover. You will return to the office for follow up visits. You will need to care for your incisions until they are healed. Dr. Workman will instruct you on how to care for your surgical incisions.

Your thighs will feel tight for several days and you can expect some bruising and swelling. Compression garments may be advised to reduce swelling and assist contraction of the skin. After the bruising and swelling fade, and your incisions heal, you will see the results of your thigh lift. The results from your thigh lift are long-lasting.
