Perlane

perlaneSome types of wrinkles may be treated with popular injectable fillers like Restylane, but other wrinkles that are deeper may require another injectable product. Vancouver plastic surgeon Dr. Michael Workman uses treatments of Perlane near Portland to treat more severe wrinkles on the face. When injected into wrinkles, Perlane provides hydration and smooths the skin at the wrinkle site.

Perlane, a sister product to Restylane, contains hyaluronic acid. Much like the hyaluronic acid in your skin, Perlane gives necessary hydration and support, helping your skin to appear less thin and more supple.

Perlane is FDA approved to treat moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds in those over 18 years old, and may be used for:

  • nasolabial folds
  • marionette lines
  • hollow tear trough
  • lip augmentation
  • facial contouring

In your consultation with Dr. Workman, he will ask about your aesthetic goals. He will then devise a treatment plan tailored to your specific needs. You should feel free to ask Dr. Workman any questions you have about your treatment of Perlane near Portland.

Before the Procedure

Before beginning your treatment of Perlane, your skin will be cleansed. Injection sites may also be carefully marked on your face, which Dr. Workman will use as a guide. Perlane contains lidocaine for your comfort, but a topical anesthetic may be administered at this time, if necessary.

The Procedure

When he begins the procedure, Dr. Workman will carefully inject the Perlane solution into the skin at the site of the wrinkle. He may use a special technique, such as crosshatching, to provide an even appearance. Dr. Workman may also gently massage the injection site with his hand. This will ensure a smooth placement of the product and an ideal result. Some immediate correction of the wrinkle will be visible.

After the Procedure

When Dr. Workman completes your treatment of Perlane in Vancouver, you may experience some slight swelling and redness at the treatment site. These side effects are temporary, however, and swelling may dissipate with the application of an ice pack. Dr. Workman will ask you to avoid alcohol and strenuous exercise for a day after your treatment.

Seeing Results

Once any possible swelling or redness has diminished, you will see the full results of your Perlane treatment. The treated wrinkles will be greatly diminished and your skin at the treatment site should appear smoother and more supple. The results can last six months to a year, as your body naturally breaks down the solution. As this happens, many patients elect to return to Dr. Workman for follow-up treatments which will maintain the beautiful results.
