Credentials

Dr. Michael Workman is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery requires graduation from an accredited medical school and completion of at least 5 years of surgical training. The surgeon must also practice plastic surgery for an additional 2 years, after which he or she must pass comprehensive written and oral examinations. There are no higher credentials than board certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

We use board-certified anesthesiologists rather than Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA) for our major procedures to ensure your complete safety and comfort. An anesthesiologist is a medical doctor who specializes in giving anesthesia to patients during surgery. Following medical school, certified anesthesiologists spend 3-5 years learning how to safely take care of patients during surgery.

Complete Information

We are constantly updating our plastic surgery patient information packets. We currently use a combination of video tapes and a personalized 50-page preoperative book that our nurse, Julia, will review with you before the plastic surgery procedure. Your book contains complete information about all aspects of your upcoming surgery, including what to expect before, during and after surgery, medication side effects, and information about the psychology and possible risks of plastic surgery.

Certified Operating Rooms

We use our Medicare-certified, state-licensed operating rooms for major procedures. Operating rooms must pass the highest, most stringent standards to obtain Medicare certification. You can be assured that a Medicare-certified, state-licensed facility has emergency power available, proper ventilation to avoid the spread of germs and has passed rigid tests to ensure the sterility of surgical instruments.
